NHL 30 DAY CHALLENGE - DAY 4
#57 - TYLER MYERS
In all honesty, I know nothing about this team (part of the reason they were on my must seem them play at Nationwide list) so this pick is based SOLELY on the fact that this guy is a SIX FOOT EIGHT INCH TALL D-MAN! I mean, whoa, I didn’t even know you could MAKE humans that big (outside the NBA)! And yes, I’m a little partial to D-men. ;-)
IT’S THE LAST GAME OF THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON!
I WILL BE IN THE STANDS TONIGHT AND WILL HOPEFULLY GET TO COLLECT A SWEATER OFF THE BACK OF TOOTS, BOLLER, LIL’ MATTY, OR CLITTY!
SABRES (42-29-10) at BLUE JACKETS (34-34-13)
TV: MSG-B (HD), FS-O (HD)
Last 10: Buffalo 7-1-2; Columbus 1-6-3
Season series: Second and final meeting of the season. Buffalo claimed a 5-0 win on home ice on Dec. 3, with Tyler Ennis and Thomas Vanek each scoring a goal and setting up two others. Ryan Miller needed to make just 19 saves to record the shutout.
Big story: It wasn’t how Buffalo started this season, but how it’s finished. After struggling through much of the first half, the Sabres improved to 28-11-6 since late December and clinched a playoff berth with Friday’s come-from-behind, 4-3 overtime victory over the Flyers.
Depending on how Saturday’s action plays out, the Sabres could find themselves entering the Stanley Cup Playoffs as either the sixth or seventh seed in the Eastern Conference. Buffalo is tied at 94 points with Montreal, which owns the tiebreaker and plays in Toronto. The Sabres must win and have the Habs lose, whether in regulation, overtime or a shootout, to pass them in the standings. \

A lot of Buffalo Sabres fans are complete douche canoes. Seriously.
I understand that it’s exciting when your team is going to the playoffs. I understand that part of the fun is to cheer them on and to be happy and excited when they win games. That’s cool, that’s fun, that’s all okay.
However, traveling to another city and chanting disparaging, insulting things AT THE HOME TEAMS FANS before the game has even started? Standing in SOMEONE ELSE’S HOUSE after the game, near the exits, holding signs reading things “Enjoy the Golf Season”? That is just the tip of some of the behaviors I witnessed tonight.
No, not even remotely okay. It’s NOT funny, it’s NOT cute and it’s NOT clever. It’s douchey and you’re a douche. If you can’t “have fun” without tearing down other people then stay the fuck home an have your “fun”.
This goes for EVERY FAN OF EVERY SPORT EVERYWHERE. Seriously, it’s called manners. Learn some.
TLDR; DON’T BE A FUCKING DOUCHE CANOE!
To the Sabres fans at tonight’s game who were civil and there to have a good time supporting your team, without the need for being a punkass bitch, I thank you and good luck in the playoffs.
With the lack of suspension to Milan Lucic, Shanahan has declared open season on Goalies and wiped away the confidence in him as the VP of player safety. He has also gone a LONG way in helping to continue the idea that some fans, and other organizations, have that the Bruins get to play by a different rule book.
That hit was bad; from the fact that it was leveled on a goalie, to the fact that Lucic lead with is stick and aimed for Miller’s head. Lucic SHOULD have been suspended and I honestly believe that had the hit happened in the opposite direction (a Sabre on Thomas) in the EXACT same way, that their would have been a suspension.
I would like to point out, before people “come at me” that I actually like and support the Bruins. However, I don’t follow and support blindly and a bad hit is a bad hit. When I see a sheep I don’t call it a cow just because people prefer cows.
