Heroes Alliance Ohio were out at Comfest this weekend and we raised OVER $650 for the Make-a-Wish foundation!

Big thank yous to everyone who came out, helped, enjoyed and especially to everyone who gave!

For the past forty years in Columbus, Ohio, the Community Festival (affectionately titled Comfest) has been held in the area around Goodale Park – and this year the Heroes Alliance Ohio was overjoyed to be attending. Over the course of three hot days and nights, a team involving Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Nightwing, Wonder Woman, Power Girl, Captain America, Reed Richards, Spider-Man – and even the villainous ladies of Gotham, Poison Ivy and Catwoman, all staffed a booth at the festival, where we accepted donations and sold donated books, toys, DVDs and comics, all to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Community Festival is a celebration of community, bringing together political activism groups, local artists and craftspeople, music, community health organizations and many, many other entities together. Although this was the first time they had superheroes in their midst, the attendees welcomed us with open arms – and when they heard that we were raising money for Make-A-Wish, they opened their pockets as well.

By the end of the three days, a total of $668.04 was raised for Make-A-Wish. Hundreds of children and adults were given the chance to meet and take pictures with their superheroes, and as we wrapped up on Sunday night, we were an exhausted but very satisfied team.

Comfest is a large, free, non-corporate, music and arts annual festival held each June in Columbus. The festival bills itself as “The Party with a Purpose,” and their statement of principles reflects a desire for people to live in harmony with the environment and one another.
