Columbus Blue Jackets FanFest 2011
…
Ran into Fedor Tyutin during the skills competition and man…. you want to talk about one seriously broken horse. :( I felt so bad for the guy.. people came up to him all night asking him to sign stuff and you could tell all he wanted to do was be left alone to watch the competition. Then a friend of mine also brought up the fact that.. he can’t exactly be the happiest camper in the word. He just lost a lot of friends in one of the most tragic events to ever happen to hockey ( Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ) and now has to put on a brave face and bump elbows with people who don’t know him from Adam? I just wanted to hug him.
First he sat in the seats, then when too many people bothered him he went and tried to stand somewhere off on his own where people wouldn’t see him. They found him of course. Then he went and sat on the bench during the rest skills competition to HIDE and people STILL banged on the glass and got people to ask him to sign stuff. He’s a way tougher man that I ever would have imagined- I probably would have screamed “I just want left alone.” Bravo Fedor, bravo.
This is probably the only “big event” that happened during my night- I did chat with John Michael for a bit but come on, you guys could care less- but really, I kinda felt like people should know about it. I wish people had a bit more respect for the players when it came to asking for autographs.

Fedor is an extremely gracious and awesome man! I watched one particular female fan REPEATEDLY get up into his personal space as he was trying to move from the “street hockey” area to the ice for his time at the “pass and shoot” thing and hinder his ability to get where he needed to be. As if that wasn’t bad enough she kept touching him, like hand FULL on his chest the way one might touch their significant other. Even though he was clearly not comfortable with it he stood their and “took it” until he could politely remove himself from her and run off to the safety of parts unknown.
I was appalled. I agree that some people really need to learn some manners and boundaries.
